Leader of a militia group in Daybarain village, Thahton Township was shot dead on September 29 and a man was also shot to death near Baykalwe village, Yay Township according to sources.

U Soe Win, (56 years), deputy leader of a militia group in Daybarain village, Thahton Township, while sitting at the café in his village was shot dead by two men riding motorcycle at 7:00 am on September 29. He was died instantly at the scene according to locals.

“The two assailants came to the café with motorbike, shot his head and then took his revolver, bullets and his documents,” according to a local.

Security forces came to the place after the incident and conducted inspections. Afterwards, the death body was sent to Thahton district hospital.

Similarly, a man was also shot dead near Baykalwe village, Thanbyuzayat-Yay road, in Yay Township around 3:30 pm on the same day.

Later, it was identified that the man was a taxi driver from Mawkanin villge, Laming, Yay Township, Mon State.

“We knew that he was a good man. We didn’t’ know why he was killed,” said a local.

His remain was sent to Laming hospital by philanthropic association.
