On October 17, 2024, the full moon day of Thadingyut in the Myanmar calendar year 1386, thousands of pilgrims visited the famous Maha Muni Pagoda in Mandalay. 

After the early morning face washing ceremony to the Maha Muni Buddha image, pilgrims presented gold robes, flowers, oil lamps, and food while performing other meritorious deeds.

Thadingyut marks the end of Buddhist Lent and commemorates the Buddha's return to earth after teaching his mother and other celestial beings. The day, also known as the Lighting Festival, is widely celebrated across Myanmar with people visiting pagodas, offering alms, and listening to sermons at monasteries.

Other significant pagodas in Mandalay, such as Kuthodaw and Kyauktawgyi, also saw a large number of visitors participating in religious activities.
