Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for International Cooperation, attended the 20th ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand on November 2.The 20th ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting was held at IMPACT Forum Sapphire 203 in IMPACT Arena at 9 am on November 2.

At the APSC meeting, Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand chaired the 20th ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting during the 35th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits. The APSC Council meeting discussed the progress made in this pillar under the theme “Advancing Partnership for Sustainability,” particularly on sustainable security.

The Secretary-General of ASEAN briefed the Meeting on work undertaken by the APSC Sectoral Bodies and progress on the implementation of the APSC Blueprint 2025, as a Mid-Term Review of the Blueprint is set for next year. At present, 94 per cent of all the action lines of the Blueprint have been implemented. The Secretary-General also updated the Meeting on key deliberations of the ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting Plus, maritime cooperation, the ASEAN Centre for Military Medicine, efforts to counter terrorism, violent extremism and address transnational crimes, as well as cooperation to combat illegal drug trafficking, human trafficking, cyber security, nuclear disarmament, and the role of women in peace and security.

Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, met and exchanged views with H.E. Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Khalifa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, during the 35th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits to strengthen bilateral ties, and enhance cooperation between the two countries in various dimensions. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand also welcomed Bahrain’s accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) especially during Thailand’s ASEAN Chairmanship. The Thai side also reiterated its readiness to support Bahrain’s active and constructive interactions with ASEAN in the future ahead.

Kyaw Tin attended the 20th ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting, together with the Secretary-General of ASEAN and foreign ministers from ASEAN.

The 20th ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting mainly focused on regional political and security affairs and it was held based on Prep-som of senior officials from regional countries held on November 1.
