Kyauktalone temporary camp in Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State will be closed, according to the state government.
The state government held a meeting on January 21 at Sittwe to relocate the IDPs and for closure of Kyauktalone temporary camp.
The advisory commission led by Kofi Annan advised the state government to shut down IDP camps and the state government drew national level strategic plan to relocate the IDPs and to close temporary camps in the state in 2018. The government closed Nidin camp in Kyauktaw and Taungpaw camp in Myebon.
They are still discussing to close Thakapyin, Khaung Dottka 1 and 2 IDP camps in Sittwe and Kyauktalone IDP camp in Kyaukphyu.
The IDP camps were opened after the conflicts occurred in 2012 and there are 12 IDP camps in Sittwe, 4 IDP camps in Pauktaw, one IDP camp each in Myebon and Kyaukphyu.
