KIA and allied groups launch airstrikes in Bhamo, Kachin State according to sources.
The KIA and allied groups have been shelling Bhamo since the morning of December 5, and residents are fleeing to nearby neighborhoods, according to residents.
“ KIA is hitting the military with rockets. They are firing at the military, but civilian houses are also being hit. The military is only around the entrance of the city. Drones are also flying around. The military is also firing back and it hit civilians. The residents are trying to escape, but both sides have blocked the roads. The military closed the road yesterday morning. Today, we can run. The number of people who died is not clear. I think there are more than ten people died both civilians and armed men. It is very disappointing to see people with severed arms, legs, and intestines," said a local.
The small army outposts in Phang Kha Kone, Nyaung Pin Thar in Bhamo University were targeted.
"We don't know where to run. If we go far, we'll be safe. If we go near Bhamo, the heavy weapons can hit us. The reason for closing the entrance and exit is because the shooting is coming from the entrance and exit," said a local.
The Information Team of the State Administration Council (SAC) has not yet released any information about the battle in Bhamo.
The KIA, PDF, and AA combined forces attacked and occupied the Auk Chaung area from February 17 to February 19, 2024, and thousands of displaced people have taken refuge in Bhamo.
