Colonel Saw Chit Thu, Secretary-General of the Kayin State Border Guard Force (BGF), stated that only government-approved construction, urban development, and hotel projects have been carried out in the Shwe Kokko area, with no involvement in illegal online scam operations.
Speaking to the media on February 17 at the BGF and KNA Special Security Frontline Camp in Myawady’s Ward 4, Colonel Saw Chit Thu addressed allegations regarding scam activities in Myawady Township, particularly in Shwe Kokko and KK Park.
He emphasized that since 2018, all developments in Shwe Kokko have been conducted legally under the approval of the official investment commission. He denied any involvement in fraudulent online scam activities, stating that such accusations were baseless.
He also mentioned that efforts are underway to arrest those involved in illegal operations and to rescue victims trapped in such activities. Those detained will be systematically transferred to Thai authorities.
Regarding reports that Thailand’s opposition party is seeking his arrest, Colonel Saw Chit Thu questioned what crimes he had committed against Thailand or how he had ever acted against the country. He asserted that he has done nothing wrong in Thailand and dismissed the claims as one-sided accusations from a Thai opposition MP.
Additionally, he stated that strict action will be taken against drug trafficking and usage along the Myanmar-Thailand border and affirmed that human trafficking and torture would not be tolerated.
The crackdown on illegal scam operations in Myawaddy, Shwe Kokko, and KK Park is being carried out through a joint effort between the Myanmar government, the Kayin State Border Guard Force, and Thai authorities.
