The Embassy of Japan in Yangon has announced that a plane carrying medical aid—including pharmaceuticals and diagnostic equipment—will be sent to Myanmar. The C-130 transport aircraft from Japan's Self-Defense Forces is scheduled to depart from Komaki Air Base as early as April 8.

This humanitarian assistance is intended to support ongoing relief efforts following the devastating earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28. A Japan Disaster Relief (JDR) medical team already present in the country will continue its operations, providing medical care to those affected by the disaster. The Japanese government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the people of Myanmar in accordance with its consistent humanitarian policy, ensuring that medical needs are met and direct aid is delivered.

On March 31, Japan dispatched a five-member JDR medical team, followed by a second team of 32 members on April 2. Additionally, on March 30, the Disaster Emergency Logistics System for ASEAN (DELSA) sent 240 emergency tarpaulins and 450 tents.

Essential daily items such as hygiene products, drinking water, and water purification systems are also being provided through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Moreover, the Japanese government has prepared to offer around six million US dollars in emergency assistance through international organizations starting April 2, according to the Embassy of Japan in Myanmar.
