The Ministry of Immigration and Population has announced that township-level immigration offices nationwide are operating without holidays to assist voters whose citizenship identification cards have been lost or damaged, in order to ensure they do not lose their right to vote in the election.

According to the ministry, the initiative aims to ensure that every citizen possesses at least one valid form of citizenship identification and is able to exercise their voting rights in the ongoing multi-party democracy general election. These efforts are being carried out under the ministry’s “Pan Khin Lan” projects, which focus on issuing citizenship documents to eligible citizens.

During the election period, voters who have lost or damaged their citizenship cards are being provided with fast-track, legal verification and replacement services at township immigration offices, which open every day as a special measure. The ministry has urged affected voters to promptly contact their respective township immigration offices to complete the necessary procedures.

However, the ministry also warned that citizens who falsely claim their cards are lost or damaged in order to obtain more than one citizenship card will face strict legal action in accordance with the law. The announcement was issued by the Ministry of Immigration and Population.
