Students are staying in IDP camps in Rakhine State and they cannot attend school yet, said the IDPs themselves.

Although primary school students are allowed to attend school, middle school students are not yet allowed. The IDPs said they want to go back to their homes but are worried about their safety.

“The whole village fled as the fighting occurred near our village. All we’ve known so far about it as I filmed it. What makes me worried most is middle school students and I am wondering how they can sit for their exams. We have to hire teachers to teach them at the village and no teacher will come amidst all the fighting. We have 78 students from primary to middle school students. However we provided tuition for middle school students,” said Kyaw Kyaw Naing from Ahlechaung Village.

Although Rakhine State education department said they instructed the authorities to help the students in IDP camps to learn education and sit exam, middle school students are missing the opportunities to learn education.

According to statistics from the department, there are over 2,000 students living in IDP camps in the state but students in some IDP camps are inconvenience to attend school.
