Hotels and guesthouses in Bagan fully booked for New Year holiday

Hotels and guesthouses in Bagan, the ancient culture city, have been fully booked, and more than 200,000 pilgrims have visited Bagan from December 1 till now, said U Myo Min Aung, deputy director of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism (Bagan Branch).

A total of 684,892 tourists visited the ancient city of Bagan in the 6 months from January to June in this year, according to the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism (Bagan Branch).

“There are 75 hotels and guesthouses in Bagan that have reopened. A total of 3,226 rooms are fully booked. On December 25, visitors occupied all rooms. Now, during the New Year holiday, the rooms are almost fully booked. There are more than 200,000 pilgrims who have visited Bagan from December 1 until now," said U Myo Aung.

About 120,000 pilgrims have visited the Shwezigon Pagoda from December 1. About 70,000 pilgrims have visited the Bupaya Pagoda, and about 17,000 pilgrims have visited the Lawkananda Pagoda. In total, more than 200,000 visitors have visited the hotels and lodging houses. From December 1 until now, there are about 37,000 local travellers and about 600 foreign visitors.
