Gunfire erupts near Kyaikto township restaurant: four PDF members killed in security raid

On the morning of August 21st, security forces conducted a raid on a house near a restaurant in Lekkpyar village, Kyaikto Township, Mon State. The raid led to an exchange of gunfire, resulting in the deaths of four members of the People's Defense Force (PDF), according to local sources and individuals close to the security forces.

The raid occurred around 9 a.m., with a large contingent of security personnel storming the house. A local resident reported that during the raid, there was a fierce exchange of gunfire.

The resident further mentioned, "The security forces entered the house based on information that PDF members were inside. In the ensuing gunfight, four PDF members were killed."

A source close to the security forces reported that four PDF members, aged between 20 and 30, were killed during the raid and exchange of gunfire. Authorities recovered three pistols, 40 rounds of 9mm ammunition, four magazines, and related equipment from the scene.

The source further added, "The security forces conducted the raid based on intelligence that PDF members were hiding in the house. It's believed that about seven PDF members managed to escape during the raid."

This was the first instance of a raid and gunfire exchange by security forces on a residence in Kyaikto Township, Mon State.

Additionally, on August 20th, at noon, there was a reported 20-minute exchange of gunfire near Khine Shwe War pomelo farm in Ingapo village, Kyaikto Township, along the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway, according to local residents.
