In Yangon and Mandalay, fuel stations are struggling with supply issues, leading to long lines and some stations being unable to sell fuel.
On the morning of July 31, several fuel stations in Yangon were reported to be closed due to a lack of fuel.
A taxi driver in Yangon noted, "The fuel situation remains unchanged from yesterday. There are long queues at stations that are open, while others have barriers set up and are not selling any fuel."
Many fuel stations that do have fuel are restricting sales to limited amounts. "Some stations are only allowing purchases of up to Ks.30,000 worth of fuel, regardless of how much you actually need," said a vehicle owner.
In Mandalay, residents are also facing difficulties. Some fuel stations have been out of fuel for several days, and those that are open have long lines. A tricycle driver shared, "I’ve been unable to buy 92 RON or 95 RON for the past 4 or 5 days. I have to wait about an hour at the station. It’s challenging because I rely on fuel for my livelihood."
Prices at fuel stations vary. It is reported that fuel costs between Ks.3,000 to Ks.7,000 per motorcycle and Ks.30,000 to Ks.50,000 per vehicle.
"I tried to get fuel at a station on the Yangon-Mandalay expressway, thinking it might be easier, but there were still long queues of motorcycles and cars," said a motorcycle driver.
Most fuel stations in Mandalay that are out of fuel have been closed, leaving only a few open and causing extended waiting times for those needing fuel.
As of July 30, the fuel prices are as follows: 92 RON at Ks.2,630 per liter, 95 RON at Ks.2,750 per liter, premium diesel at Ks.2,770 per liter, and regular diesel at Ks.2,365 per liter.
