Gasoline price has reached to more than 2,300 kyats per liter and the price of diesel has reached more than 2,500 kyats per liter, according to the press release of the Supervisory Committee on Import, Storage and Distribution of Fuel Oil.
The prices of fuel sold on August 11 were 2,310 kyats per liter for 92 Ron, 2,420 kyats per liter for 95 Ron, 2,500 kyats per liter for diesel and 2,575 kyats per liter for premium diesel.
The prices of fuel sold on August 10 were 2,195 kyats per liter for 92 Ron, 2,310 kyats per liter for 95 Ron, 2,360 kyats per liter for diesel and 2,440 kyats per liter for premium diesel.
As a result, the price of gasoline rose to more than 110 kyats per liter within a day and the price of diesel has increased by more than 240 kyats per liter.
"When the fuel price went up, it is not convenience to run a taxi. Now I have to fill up about 35,000 kyats worth of fuel a day. It's not convenient if we can't get nearly 50,000 kyats with the cost of fuel and the owner fees. We only get 10,000 or 15,000 kyats for one day," said a taxi driver in Yangon.
On July 31, the prices sold at petrol stations were 2,235 kyats per liter for 92 Ron, 2,345 kyats per liter for 95 Ron, 2,300 kyats per liter for diesel and 2,390 kyats per liter for premium diesel.
It can be said that after the news of the bank notes of 20,000 kyats will be circulated, the prices of fuel oil have increased slightly.
On July 24, the price of 92 Ron was 2,175 kyats per liter.
According to this price, the price of gasoline has increased by 60 kyats per liter for 92 Ron even in about a week.
In June, there was a change in the dollar price, but the price of fuel did not increase significantly.
The prices of fuel sold on June 26 were 1,945 kyats per liter for 92 Ron, 2,050 kyats per liter for 95 Ron, 1,920 kyats per liter for diesel and 2,000 kyats per liter for premium diesel.
However, the price of fuel dropped from above 2,000 kyats to below 2,000 kyats at the end of May.
