Price of 92 Ron reached below Ks.1800 per liter according to petrol stations.
On July 14, the prices of petrol were Ks.1785 per liter for 92 Ron, Ks.1869 per liter for 95 Ron and Ks.2205 per liter for diesel and Ks.2260 per liter for premium diesel.
The prices began falling since July and on July 7; the prices of petrol were 1,835 kyats per liter for 92 Ron, 1,955 kyats per liter for 95 Ron, 2,195 kyats per liter for diesel and 2,225 kyats per liter for premium diesel.
These prices fell for the first time since April, when petrol prices were just over 2,000 kyats.
On April 30, the prices of petrol are 1,960 kyats per liter for 92 Ron, 2,020 kyats per liter for 95 Ron, 2,320 kyats per liter for diesel and 2,345 kyats per liter for premium diesel.
“As the world oil prices have been dropping, the local oil prices may continue to drop. It will be better if a liter cost only Ks.1500. But, no one knows how much the prices will fall,” said an petrol observer.
SAC spokesman Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun said in previous press conference that 17 oil tankers docked Myanmar during June and so these have been stored for local consumption and as reserved oil. As of distribution of fuel, OSS has formed in Thilawa storage camp and continuously distributing to fuel stations as well as other industries according to their demands.
Fuel has mainly imported from Singapore, Malaysia and Korea not from China. For local consumption, 90 percent of oil has to be imported while local can produce only 10 percent.
Before February 1, 2021, the prices of petrol were Ks.620 per liter for 92 Ron and Ks.750 per liter for 95 Ron, but after one year, the petrol prices were increased remarkably.
