A Malaysian Airlines plane carrying emergency supplies from ASEAN countries to assist those affected by Cyclone Mocha, arrived at Yangon International Airport on June 1.
An official from the AHA Center, and Director U Than Soe of the Disaster Management Center (DMC) of Yangon Region and officials checked the supplies. The aid will be handed over to the people in the storm-affected areas.
The fourth batch of relief supplies that arrived consist of 52 packages of 450 packs of the shelter tool kit, 20 cartoons of family tents, one cartoon of water filtration system, 2 cartoons of water filtration system (pump), 262 tarpaulin sheets, totaling 11 packages, over 19 tonnes of cargo worth over US$ 72,000.
ASEAN countries are providing humanitarian assistance to cyclone victims. The government practices the plan “No one left behind in providing relief aid and assistance” and under the supervision of the DMC, measures are being undertaken in cooperation with respective region and state governments in a timely manner. It is also fully cooperating with AHA center and international organizations.
