A fault that occurred on the high-voltage power transmission line between Pakokku and Nyaung Pin Gyi in Magway Region was repaired starting on December 15 by responsible authorities, and electricity was restored on December 16 with the support and cooperation of nearby village residents, according to reports.
Due to the malfunction of the power line, towns in Pakokku District experienced a temporary power outage. Although repairs were initially expected to take around three days, electricity was restored much sooner thanks to the dedicated efforts of staff from the Ohn Taw High-Voltage Power Line Office and the assistance of local villagers, who contributed labor and farm machinery.
“Thanks to the joint efforts of staff from the Ohn Taw High-Voltage Power Line Office and village residents, power has been restored this evening,” a responsible official from the Pakokku Township Electricity Distribution Office wrote in a social media post.
A Pakokku resident said, “Power came back after 4 p.m. this evening. It was restored quickly because access to the damaged site was possible and nearby villages helped with their tractors. The line went down yesterday morning, and now we already have electricity back. Thank you to everyone.”
In Pakokku District, prolonged power outages occurred around three times in the past due to armed clashes and the theft of power poles during mid-2024 and mid-2025.
