An elderly motorcycle taxi driver was stabbed to death, and his motorcycle was stolen, according to local residents.

On the morning of April 23, around 9 a.m., workers at a rubber plantation near Sakangyi Village along the Thanbyuzayat-Ye road discovered the body of an elderly man with multiple stab wounds to his abdomen and chest.

The victim was identified as U San Thein, 64, a resident of Thanbyuzayat. Family members and acquaintances said that earlier that morning, a couple had hired him for a ride on his motorcycle.

A close relative of the victim stated, "We learned that U San Thein was killed, and his NCX motorcycle, mobile phone, and money were all stolen."

The family has filed a police report regarding the murder and robbery.

The body of U San Thein was transported to the Thanbyuzayat People’s Hospital morgue by volunteers from a local social rescue organization.

This is not the first such incident in the area. On December 27, 2023, a 60-year-old motorcycle taxi driver was also killed, and his bike was stolen near the town entrance toll gate in Phaung Sein Ward, Thanbyuzayat.
