YANGON- Due to a depression occurring in the Bay of Bengal, eight States and Regions including Nay Pyi Taw council area may see more rain, according to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).
According to the observation made by DMH yesterday, the low pressure area happening in the east central Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression which had centered at about 450-mile southeast of Gopalpur and about 430-mile southeast of Kalingapatinam (India).
The depression will not move into Myanmar and it was ranged as a Yellow Stage in terms of danger levels. Now, its direction may head north-west and change into a Deep Depression within 24 hours, according to the DMH.
Due to the effect of the depression, rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Kayah and Kayin States, scattered in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway regions, Kachin, Shan, Chin and Rakhine States and widespread in the remaining regions and states with isolated heavy rain falls from October 9th to 13th.
DMH also announced that the surface wind speed in squalls may reach 40 mph. Seas will experience moderate to rough weather elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 9-12 feet at Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts and about 6-9 feet at the Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.
The DMH had warned fishing boats and vessels along Myanma coastal regions against harms that the the depression may bring.
