Two villages in the constituency of Matupi Township, Chin State, had seemingly voted more in favour of the local ethnic party as early poll results show the Chin National League for Democracy (CNLD) pulling ahead.

While the voting continues in these two villages, the party's spokesperson said on social media that CNLD is winning as of this afternoon. It is supposedly 248 votes for CNLD and 89 for the NLD for the regional parliament, 327 votes for CNLD and 83 votes for NLD for Amyotha Hluttaw, 263 for CNLD and 124 for NLD for the Pyitthu Hluttaw.

CNLD's Secretary Salai Ceu Bik Thawng confirmed with Eleven Media Group that the CNLD is leading in a total of 11 villages in Matupi Township.

Despite promising early leads for the CNLD, Matupi consists of over 100 villages and thus is still too early to call for an early CNLD victory.

The CNLD is fighting for seats via Daw Lin Lin Htun for Pyithu Hluttaw, U Aung Hlyan for Amyotha Hluttaw Constituency No.9, U Ngai Sak for Regional Parliament from Constituency (1) and U Zo Par Maung for Constituency (2).

The NLD had previously won this township in 2015. with a close vote.
