Starting in early May, the onset of the rainy season, dengue fever cases surged in Dawei District. Three children died from the disease in May alone, a source close to the regional health department reported.

The source added, “On June 17, an eight-year-old child passed away, bringing the total number of child deaths in June to four. Overall, seven children have died so far.”

The victims were children aged between five and ten years old. It is believed that delays in reaching hospitals contributed to the fatalities. The source urged parents to promptly take sick children to nearby hospitals for treatment.
