Danubyu and Hkamti locals show support for State Counsellor

Locals from Danubyu Township, Ayeyawady Region and Hkamti Township, Sagaing Region showed their support for State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi who will lead the team to defend the case filed at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) by Gambia on behalf of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Thousands of local activists attended event, saluting the flag as well as the fallen heroes including General Aung San and other martyrs.

“We have supported “Amay Suu” [State Counsellor] since the 88 Uprising. She came to Danubyu Township after the 88 Uprising and at that time, the Tatmadaw (military) targeted her but the locals from Danubyu Township protected her. Now again, we show our support for her and the President. All organizations including townselders requested of us to hold a show of support for the State Counsellor. And so we led the event,” said Kyaw Kyaw Htoo from the party of National League for Democracy (NLD).

Those present chanted slogans and phrases that show their support to the State Counsellor and her endeavors as well as wishing her health and prosperity.

Similarly, Hkamti Township in Sagaing Region held such an event for the State Counsellor.

Aung San Myint, who led the event in Hkamti Township, said that locals were extremely satisfied with the efforts made by the State Counsellor to defend against the case filed by Gambia.

The supporters also held sign boards and vinyl posters that declares their standing with the State Counsellor.

More than 100 activists including MPs from Hkamti Township, locals, NLD members as well as those from other political parties participated in the event.

Likewise, thousands of activists gathered in front of Mahabandoola Park in Yangon on December 1st aiming to show their support for the State Counsellor.
