Under the friendship between Myanmar and Korea, the Dala bridge project is being implemented with a loan of over US$157 million from the Republic of Korea and US$30 million from Myanmar totalling US$188.17 million, and the project has completed by 7 percent, according to the Ministry of Construction.

The four-lane bridge is 1,867 meters long and 26 meters wide. The bridge is of reinforced concrete type with steel beams and bole piles. It can bear a load of 75 tons.

The project started in May 209 and is set to complete by October 2022. The bridge connects the city center and Dala Township of Yangon Region.

“The bridge project will finish in about mid-20200 as construction will take 39 or 42 months (three and a half years). We cooperate (with South Korea) so that young Myanmar engineers can have experience in building such a long bridge,” said Kyaw Kaung Cho, deputy director general of the Bridge Department under the Ministry of Construction.

The stake driving ceremony to start the project took place on December 24, 2018, attended by State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi.

The main constructor is GS Engineering and Construction Corporation Company from South Korea. The sub-contractor is the local Shwe Taung Co. Deputy Minister for Construction Dr Kyaw Lin visited the project site on February 23.
