COVID-19 positives discovered in garment factories, Ayeyawady to shut down 12 factories temporarily

After discovering four patients infected with COVID-19 virus from the He Shan garment factory and Dond Long garment factory in Parhein, the regional government has issued an order that all garment factories in the Ayeyarwady Region be closed from 24 Sept to 7 October.

     

Four workers from He Shan and Dond Liong garment factories in Pathein Industrial Zone have been infected with COVID-19 virus and only 6795 workers of the 13041 workers of all 12 garment factories came to work on 20 September. In order to control the spread of the disease and prevent it from further occuring, the 12 garment factories in the entire region are to cease from 24 Sept. to 7 Oct. and the workers are to Stay at Home as per instructions from the Ministry of Health & Sports.



Their movements will be strictly monitored as mentioned in the order issued by the regional government.

     

Spokesperson for the Ayeyarwady Region Government body, Minister of Electric, Industry and Transport, Win Htay, said that meetings are held everyday regarding COVID-19, and the people are notified of everything they ought to know. In a garment factory in Pathein, four Positive cases were found. Upon making enquiries we noticed there are 12 garment factories in our region. They are in Kangyidaunt, Dedaye and Pathein. On 23 Sept.it was found that of the more than 13000 workers in the 12 factories, only over 6000 came to work. In order to prevent the spread of the disease these factories will be temporarily closed from 24 Sept. to 7 Oct. in accordance with regulations. Those that have to return to their homes will have to Stay at Home for a week.



According to the Department of Public Health and Cure of Ayayarwady Region on 24 Sept, there have been 148 persons affected by COVID-19 virus, and 28 have recovered and have been discharged. There have been no deaths.
