Container train cars jointly organized by Myanma Railways and Best Eternity Recycle Pulp and Paper Co., Ltd have started carrying paper related materials from MITT port of Yangon Region to Yayni railway station in Yadeshay Township, Bagon Region on October 3.

Under the bilateral agreement of Myanma Railways and Best Eternity Recycle Pulp and Paper Co., Ltd, container train cars are running from the MITT to Yayni railway station and the distance of the MITT to Yayni railway station is 215.75 miles.

Containers were unloaded from container vessels at the MITT port and loaded into coaches of the container train cars. A container train car includes 27 coaches.

The container train car is installed with 2,000 horsepower and can carry 1400 tons.

“They are up and down container coaches. Thilawa-Yayni container train car has started running on a basis of raw material to finished product system,” said an official of Myanma Railways.

Now, two inland ports have been built in Ywathagyi in East Dagon Township and it is to transport containers from Yangon to Mandalay by train.

These two inland ports were built by KM Terminal & Logistics Limited and Resource Group Logistics Co., Ltd. Each inland port has an area of 40 acres. They were built in October in 2017 and they were commissioned into service on November 11 in 2018.    

Thilawa SEZ issued trade permits to 113 companies of direct investment from 2015 to September 1 of 2019. 76 companies are running operations. The total investment volume reached US$ 1.7 billion.
