To enhance connectivity between industrial zones and promote smooth logistics networks including seaports, dry ports, satellite towns, and transport routes, the Myanmar government has formed a Leading Committee for the Yangon Elevated Expressway and Yangon Outer Ring Road Projects, according to The Myanmar Gazette.

The committee will be chaired by the Union Minister for Construction, with the Yangon Region Chief Minister and deputy ministers from the Ministries of Transport and Communications, Finance and Revenue, and Electric Power serving as members. The Deputy Minister for Construction will act as the secretary.

The committee is tasked with identifying suitable expressway routes that can contribute to social and economic development, coordinating with relevant ministries and regional governments for the development of industrial zones, logistics hubs, and ports along the routes, and implementing the projects under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) system to minimize government spending.

It will also ensure that all PPP processes comply with tender procedures previously set by the State Administration Council, report its progress to the Economic Committee and the Union Government, and establish subcommittees and working groups as needed for project implementation.
