Citizen investments hit over Ks 17,813 billion

Until September this year, the total citizen investments reached over Ks 17,813 billion, with the housing development, manufacturing, transport and communication, hotels and tourism sectors topping the lists of citizen investments, according to the figures released by Myanmar Investment Commission.

The MIC allowed 1,466 investments in 11 sectors. Citizen investments in the housing development sector amounted to Ks4164.818 billion (76 businesses), the manufacturing sector, Ks3084.629 billion (822 businesses), the transport and communication, Ks2851.731 billion (50 businesses), the hotel and tourism sector, Ks1841.171 billion (148 businesses), the construction sector, Ks1075.183 billion (68 businesses), the industrial development sector, Ks862.903 billion (11 businesses), the energy sector, Ks646.588 billion (17 businesses), the mining sector, Ks173.275 billion (66 businesses), the livestock and fishery sector, Ks153.578 billion (83 businesses), the agricultural sector, Ks51.893 billion (11 businesses) and other sector, Ks2908.101 billion (114 businesses).

In 2015-2016 FY, the total citizen investments hit over Ks11,624 billion. During two and half years since the incumbent government took office, the total citizen investments reached Ks6,189 billion.

Since January, 2017, the citizen investments in the housing development sector have overtaken the manufacturing sector which topped the lists of citizen investments.
