Fifty portable ventilators and 200,000 surgical masks donated by China to Myanmar’s military for COVID-19 preventive and control measures have arrived, the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services reported on April 5.

This is the second batch of the relief items that have arrived. On April 1, 500 GX01 non-contact electronic thermometers and 10,000 sets of SARS-CoV-2 rapid qualitative test kits arrived from China, the office reported.

The military has been accepting people who need to be quarantined at its transit centres in Hlaing Township, Yangon Region, and Nay Pyi Taw.

The local military medical corps and officials from Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw commands are providing meals and healthcare for those in quarantine. All of them are reported to be in good health.

The military transit centre in Yangon Region can house 2,000 persons under investigation of COVID-19 while the transit centre in Nay Pyi Taw can accept 15,000.
