Charges dropped for 24 artists, entertainers

The state-owned MRTV news announced on June 29 that a total of 24 artists including Chit Thu Wai, Thet Mon Myint, Aye Wutt Yi Thaung and more have charges against them dropped. 

Many from theatre, music, film and other industries were all sued under Section 505(a) of the criminal code for inciting, via social media platforms such as Platform. 

Out of the many, the announcement claimed that 24 will have charges against them dropped as they were deemed to be have been "manipulated".

They are, War So Moe Oo, Kyaw Kyaw Nanda, Han Naytar, Thet Mon Myint, G Fatt aka Myat Thu, Kelvin Kate aka Aung Thu Lwin, Mary, Naw Phaw Eh Htar, Kara, Sue Sha Naing, Chit Thu Wai, J Fire aka Aung Ko Nyein, Thiha Tun, Aye Wutt Yi Thaung, Nyi Nanda, Ma Htet aka Oakkar Htet, May Oo Maung, Chuu Pan Nwal, Thar Nge, Aung Htet, Nan Thuzar, Thwin Pa Pa Aung and Thazin Nwe Win.

The announcement also came with a warning that should the 24 committ these crimes again, they will be charged under extant laws. It also said that efforts are being made for those that were deemed worthy to be freed amongst those that participated in protests from February 1 to June 20.
