Chair of MPC elects as Vice Chair of Southeast Asian Press Councils Network

Ohn Kyaing, also known as Hanthawady U Own Kyaing, Chair of Myanmar Press Council (MPC) is elected as Vice Chair of Southeast Asian Press Councils Network- SAPCN, announced the council.

The first general assembly of the SAPCN was held at Santika Siligita Hotel in Bali, Indonesia on December 4.

Chairmen and members of Myanmar Press Council, National Press Council of Thailand, Indonesia Press Council and Timor-Leste Press Council are attended and discussed about cooperating between press medias in the region and signed the charter of the SAPCN.

Chief of the Indonesian Press Council Mohammad Nuh was appointed chairman of the SAPCN and Chair of the MPC was elected as Vice Chair of the SAPCN. Asep Setiawan of the Indonesia Press Council was appointed as secretary general of the SAPCN.

The SAPCN’s board of directors are Agus Sudibyo of Indonesia, Kyaw Swar Min of Myanmar, Chavarong Limpattamapanee of Thailand, and Virgilio da Silva Guterres of Timor Leste.

The SAPCN was founded with Myanmar Press Council, National Press Council of Thailand, Indonesia Press Council and Timor-Leste Press Council on September 24, 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand.

According to the organization structure of the SAPCN, Indonesia will take over the chair post from 2019 to 2021 and from 2021 to 2023 by Myanmar.
