Regarding the conscription of the people’s military service, the ward and village administration and township organizations should scrutinize and supervise the procedures at all levels to ensure that there is no financial fraud and that the procedures are carried out in accordance with the procedures, said the Chairman of the Central Body for Summoning People's Military Servants, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Defence, General Maung Maung Aye.

The Central Body Chairman made this statement at the meeting of the Central Body for Summoning People's Military Servants (1/2025) held at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Defence on January 28.

At the meeting, General Maung Maung Aye said that there is a lot of true and false information among the public regarding the conscription of the people’s military service. Not only the media but also private individuals have pointed out the weaknesses of the levels from the ward and village levels to the township and district levels. Most of them are based on a small amount of true information to mislead the public. The military conscription is being exaggerated to tarnish the image of the military service. If officials are found to have violated the People’s Military Service Law, they will need to take effective action. If it is true that the violations were true, effective action will be taken, and there are still cases being taken. Similarly, if there are untrue rumors, propaganda, and false complaints about the people’s military service, they will need to be identified and taken seriously.

In addition, the responsible levels need to scrutinize and supervise the ward, village administration, and township organizations that directly interact with the public to improve their relations with the public, to prevent financial irregularities, and to ensure that they operate in accordance with established procedures. The Central Body is scrutinizing and approving exemptions, relaxations, and postponements submitted by the public. Every citizen has a responsibility to defend the country and those within the age limits set by law need to be able to serve smoothly for the specified period. The Central Body is implementing the National Service Information Management System (NSIMS) to ensure accurate records and facilitate long-term record keeping, he said.

Similarly, the Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) Lieutenant General Kyaw Swar Lin explained that the recruitment of national service personnel must be carried out in accordance with the laws, rules and procedures set forth in the regulations, and that it is necessary to systematically supervise the officials responsible for the townships, wards and villages who are actually carrying out the recruitment process on the ground.

Then, the Central Body members, the Nay Pyi Taw Council, the Region and State People’s Military Service Recruitment Chairmen and officials discussed and made recommendations on the issues related to the recruitment of national service personnel in their respective sectors, and the Central Body Chairman coordinated and implemented the necessary measures.

It is necessary to systematically prepare the number of people covered by the People’s Military Service Law by village and township and make it known to the relevant parties. Only then will there be no fraud when the actual recruitment takes place and a position that can be accepted and trusted by many people will be achieved. Since the recruitment of civil service personnel is a long-term process, it must be managed well systematically. As a civil service personnel, it is necessary to work hard to serve as a good citizen. It is important to emphasize that recruitment should be carried out systematically in accordance with the People’s Military Service Law, rules and procedures without any forced recruitment, the Central Body Chairman added.
