Car hits and kills woman standing on roadside while avoiding Pant-saku donation collectors in Thaketa Township

A woman was killed when a car hit her while trying to avoid people collecting Pant-saku donation packages in Thaketa Township at around 7:30 pm, according to the Shin Than Yay Social Assistance Association.

The incident occurred on Shu Khin Thar Road, Ward 14, Thaketa Township, and the driver fled after hitting her.

“Our team’s vehicles are stationed across the township. Last night, when our team arrived at the scene, people nearby said that a car hit her while trying to avoid people collecting donation packages and the driver fled,” said an official from the association.

The woman who was hit was then taken to Yangon General Hospital by an ambulance of the association and she died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Officials are investigating the incident.
