A burglar broke into a handset shop in Dawei and stole handsets worth about Ks5 million before setting fire to the shop on September 22.
Two fire engines and two water bowsers went to put out the fire and the fire was finally died down around 5:20 am. The fire destroyed a CCTV monitor, cashier counter and motorcycle, according to Dawei district fire services department.
“The fire fighters found handsets outside the shop near a window. CCTV records from the shop were also set fire and they assumed the burglar set fire to the CCTV records to destroy evident. The police are finding the culprit,” said Police Lt-Col Hlaing Min Tun, head of Dawei district police force.
Police are blocking entry and exit of the town to find the suspect and informed checkpoints in Myeik, Myitta and Htikhi to find the suspect, he said.
