Building Materials Shop Owner Killed in Armed Robbery in North Dagon

The owner of a building materials shop in North Dagon Township in Yangon Region was killed after the shop was reportedly robbed by three men on October 5, according to information obtained from local sources.

At around 12:30 p.m. on October 5, three men entered the building materials shop on U Wisara Road in Ward 42, North Dagon Township. They reportedly restrained the female owner and attacked the male owner with a knife found inside the shop, according to the Wan Yan Mu Social Assistance and Rescue Association, whose members arrived at the scene.

“We learned that three men entered the shop and carried out the attack. They used a knife from the back of the shop to attack the owner. He died shortly after arriving at the hospital,” said an official from the Wan Yan Mu Social Assistance and Rescue Association who went to the scene.

The deceased shop owner was around 40 years old. He sustained multiple slash wounds, including injuries to the left side of his neck that severed an artery, the left cheek, nape, back, left fingers and right arm, according to the rescue association.
