A seven-year old boy, who has injured in the fighting between army and Arakan Army (AA) in Yathedaung Township, is died from the injury on the way to Yangon, sources said.

The boy was sent to Yangon to have medical treatment from Sittwe General Hospital on January 28 and he died on the way. His body was carried back to Thameehla Village.

A total of three villagers, including the boy, had injuries in the fighting which took place on January 26 and the boy had serious injuries in his head.

The army column drove out all villagers from the village to inspect the village. When the villagers were allowed to go home, boxes from 64 houses were searched and destroyed. The villagers said they lost money and gold in the search and they will report it to the parliament.

“We are planning to submit the loss of gold and money to the parliament because the villagers looked frightened when we arrived there. We think both the army and the AA should not harm villagers. The government should prevent the fighting,” said MP Kyaw Lwin of Kyaukphyu Constituency.

The soldiers took K15 million in cash, which is donated by people, from a pagoda trustee and they also took gold, said the villagers. They said they found an unexploded motor round outside the village.

MP Than Naing of Yathadaung Constituency said, “We saw many bullets and motor rounds inside the village. Four villagers were also beaten. One man has an injury in his head and sent to Yathadaung Hospital. Some lost about K2.7 million in cash and some lost six visses of gold. The villagers are come back to their homes and police told them not to come out from their homes. It is like armed robbery as they took money and gold after the fighting.”
