An explosion occurred in Aungzeya Street near South Dagon Myoma Police Station after 7 am on May 20 wounding a police member, according to neighbourhood residents.
“The blast occurred at about 7.15 am when a policeman went to where he heard the music coming from a Bluetooth speaker beside the police station in Aungzeya Street, said neighbourhood residents.
After the explosion, security was tightened near South and North Dagon junction with checks on passers-by.
Likewise, another bomb was found near a playing Bluetooth speak in front of Government Technical School in Ward-105, South Dagon Township. The bomb was defused and taken away by security forces.
After 8 pm on May 19 also, an explosion occurred near Basic Education High School No (1) in Tamway Township, said nearby residents.
Security forces rushed to the scene for investigation when another explosion occurred wounding three police including an officer.
“Around 8 pm we heard a loud explosion. After five minutes, another blast occurred. Some police were wounded. We also found ambulances,” said a neighbourhood resident.
Near the school is the UN office with a deployment of security forces.
Series of explosions have occurred not only in Yangon Region but also in other towns of Myanmar since late April.
Security is being tightened at ward and township administration offices and township police stations.
