Basic voter lists are being complied, while official and temporary household lists are being issued to those without household registrations so as to ensure that every citizen can vote in the upcoming general election, said Moe Moe Su Kyi, Yangon Region minister for immigration and human resources, during a session of the region parliament on September 17.
The minister revealed the information after MP Yan Aung for Mingalar Taungnyunt Township Constituency No (2) asked about any plan to issue national scrutiny cards to daily-wage staff from the Yangon City Development Committee.
"To make sure that all citizens have the right to vote in the general election to be held in 2020 as well as other elections, we are taking measures such as collecting population data and drawing projects for compiling basic voter lists. For those who have no household registration, we will try to issue official household lists and temporary household lists," said the minister.
Official household lists will be issued to local migrants who must have been living in the places they moved to for three consecutive years and above although their household lists were previously issued in their native places. Temporary household lists will be issued for others.
