Authorities set to resume Mawlamyine-Yangon train services on August 3

The Mawlamyine-Yangon train services, which were temporarily suspended since July 29 due to the flooding in Bago Station in the past few days, will resume from August 3, according to the officials at Mawlamyine Station.

During the last week of July, due to heavy rains, floods occurred in many areas in Bago Township, including Bago city. It is reported that the Yangon-Mawlamyine train services as well as the Yangon-Mandalay train services were temporarily suspended due to flooding in Bago sStation yard and overflowing the railway tracks.

"Due to the water receding in Bago, the Mawlamyine-Yangon train services will resume on August 3. Train tickets were sold on the morning of August 2," said an official from Mawlamyine Station.

The No.82 up airbag train from Mawlamyine Station to Yangon Station and the No.81 down train from Yangon Station to Mawlamyine Station will also run at 8:30 am on August 3.

Mawlamyine-Yangon train tickets are sold at the advance ticket office at Mawlamyine Station from 7 am to 3 pm and upper class tickets are being sold in two-day and three-day advance.
