Armed groups are always destroying roads and bridges along Union Highway linking Myanmar and China and making them inaccessible, said Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun, State Administration Council (SAC) spokesman.
He made the comment when giving a briefing on clashes that broke out in Shan State (North-east), Kayah State and Kayin State on December 2.
“Insurgents are destroying roads, bridges along Mandalay-Muse road section in Union Highway linking Myanmar and China. They dug holes in some place and made these roads inaccessible,” said SAC Spokesman.
In the recent skirmishes, armed groups used drones to drop bombs in 105 miles in Shan State (North) and clashes also broke out in south-east of Laukkai, he said.
“Sint-in Bridge on Hsipaw-Lashio Union Highway in northern Shan State was blown up and destroyed by the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), clashes occurred around Moebyae in Kayah State and in Kawkareik, Kayin State, exchange of fire broke out in five places,” said Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun.
Infantry troops and air planes from Tatmadaw jointly attacked armed groups attacking Kawkareik and there were many causalities from the armed groups added SAC Spokesman.
