YANGON-----There have been restrictions on support of humanitarian aids due to ongoing armed conflicts take place in Rakhine State, according to the announcement of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA Myanmar) on September 19th.
The OCHA Myanmar announcement reported that the renewed fighting between the Tatmadaw and the Arakan Army (AA) took place in Rakhine State. Especially the displaced peoples in northern Rakhine State already need the humanitarian assistances.
According to the latest statistics of the United Nations (UN), the total number of internally displaced people in Myanmar has reached more than 1.4 million as of October10th, it said.
The OCHA Myanmar reported also said that the partner organizations faced the delay in supplying the humanitarian aids for Buthidaung, Maungdaw, Minbyar, Mrauk-U, Yathadaung Townships due to the travel restrictions.
The OCHA Myanmar said in a statement that humanitarian organizations are urging to continue their efforts to ensure the safe and unhindered passage of aid.
The fighting took place in many villages in Shwegu Township, Kachin State, since early of October. The fighting displaced about 1,000 villagers who already fled to the downtown.
It stated that the ongoing armed conflict between Tatmadaw, ethnic armed groups and their allied People's Defense Forces (PDF) has resulted in displacement and humanitarian needs throughout Myanmar.
Local and international humanitarian organizations are meeting the emerging needs as much as possible, and during the first half of 2022, they were able to provide assistance to 3.1 million people. Efforts are being made to encourage and mobilize especially to visit the conflict areas and provide effective assistance, according to OCHA Myanmar.
