Air Thanlwin Holding Company bought all the shares in Yangon Airways and gained control over it as well as investor name was changed into Air Thanlwin which has started providing domestic flight service.
Yangon Airways served domestic flight services for 23 years and now its investor name has been changed into Air Thanlwin.
“Air ThanLwin Holding Company bought all the shares in Yangon Airways and changed the investor name. The company under the name of Air Thanlwin started providing domestic flight service starting from October 1,” U Ye Htut Aung, Deputy Director-General of Department of Civil Aviation told The Daily Eleven.
Air Thanlwin Holding Company was established in February in 2014. All the shares in Yangon Airways were bought in January in 2015. The investor name was reshuffled. The new investor name is Air Thanlwin. Flight permit was issued during August in 2019.
Air Thanlwin is going to provide domestic flight service with the use of four planes of ATR 72 in the upcoming tour season.
The domestic destinations of Yangon Airways are Yangon, Mandalay, NyaungU, Heho, Tachilek, Kengtung, Dawei, Myeik, Kawthoung, Thandwe, Sittwe, Myitkyina and PutaO.
Two domestic airlines—Air Bagan and Apex totally halted their flight operation and Air Operator’s Certificates (AOC) were also given back to the Department of Civil Aviation.
