Actor and director Thura (aka) Zarganar was reportedly arrested this morning.

He was arrested at his home in 166th Street in Tamway Township, Yangon Region.

Since February 1, there have been no significant political activities he carried out, and the reason for his arrest is unknown.

When Eleven Media contacted Tamway Township Police Station this afternoon by phone, a policeman on duty said he didn’t know the arrest and Zarganar had not arrived there.

Lists of celebrities, journalists, activists and bloggers charged under Section 505 (a) of the penal code for their instigation to harm State peace and stability by encouraging the civil disobedience movement (CDM) and using social media are being announced on State TV these days. But, Zarganar has not been listed.   

Of those charged under Section 505 (a), actor Ye Taik and Zin Thaw Naing, Facebook celebrity and former international news editor in charge of Myanmar Post Journal have been arrested.
