Action will be taken to vehicles on non-installation of new embossed number plates: RTAD

The Road Transport Administration Department (RTAD) has announced that wheel tax cards of vehicles that don’t have new embossed number plates will be confiscated or the owners will be fined.

In accordance with the statement issued by the Road Transport Administration Department, the deadline for installation of new embossed number plates was March 31. But, April 2023 was set as awareness month as there were some vehicles which needed to do so. But now, the educative period was over and therefore action was taken since May 1, it is reported.

If the vehicles without new embossed number plates are found out in the second week of May, the owners will be fined Ks.5000 and if they are found out in third week of May, wheel tax card will be confiscated, it said. Only when the owners can show that they have installed new number plates, wheel tax cards will be given back, it is said.

Therefore, vehicles’ owners have to contact to offices of Road Transport Administration Department and to install new embossed number plates, it is said.
