ACC receives budget allotment of around six billion Kyats for 2019-20 FY

The Anti-Corruption Commission will get a budget of around six billion Kyats for 2019-20 fiscal year, according to the  figures from the Ministry of Planning and Finance. 

The Ministry of Planning and Finance will spend over Ks 137 billion for the funds of local organizations. The budget allotment covers over 1.2 billion for Myanmar National Human Rights Commission, over Ks 60 billion for budget support, over Ks 31 billion for the regions and states under the Union Parliamentary Development  Fund Law, Ks20 billion for the Natural Disaster Management Committee and Ks around six billion for the Anti-Corruption Commission. 

The ministry’s budget allotment to the Anti-Corruption Commission is higher than that in 2018-19 FY. 

The Anti-Corruption Commission chaired by Aung Kyi received more complaints than before. The ACC has opened its branches in Yangon and Mandalay. 

Till late June, the ACC took action against 14,311 of 15,646 complaints with Yangon topping the list of complaints. The ACC dealt with 63 out of 103 investigated cases. Thirty-one cases are under investigation. 

The ACC made pre-investigation into 109 cases. The ACC handed over 2,467 complaints to relevant region and state governments. There are 1,335 complaints left in the hand of the ACC. 

Action was taken against 258 corrupt persons—106 persons from 37 cases tackled by the ACC, 109 civil servants from 18 cases under Section 30 (b) of the Anti-Corruption Law and 43 from eight cases about which the ACC informed relevant bodies to take action against them under the relevant laws.

The ACC handed over 2,467 complaints to relevant ministries, region and state governments.
