A total of 9.56 million people in Myanmar had been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 till November 13, according to the ministry of health.

Vaccination is prioritizing 36.9 million people aged 18 above in the country. And over 24 million doses have been administered—9.56 million people who have received two doses and 5.13 million people who have received doses.

Myanmar signed a sales contract with the People’s Republic of China to buy 24 million doses of Sinopharm vaccine, and all of them have arrived.  

First, vaccination prioritized those aged 55 and above, and people aged 45 and above started receiving jabs on October 17.

Myanmar started vaccinating in January 2021. Since September 14, vaccination coverage has been accelerated setting groups of priority such as those aged 55 and above, the disabled, members of the ethnic armed groups and their family members, migrant people, refugees and those suffering from critical diseases and non-communicable diseases.  

The ministry of health has urged the people to actively participate the nationwide vaccination. People are urged to receive full doses of vaccines without fail, while those who have received first doses need to go to nearest vaccination points to receive second doses.
