A total of 782 car accidents occurred in Yangon Region from January to October this year where 385 people were killed and Hlaing Thar Yar east and west are the areas where accidents most happened according to No-2 Traffic Police Force (Ygn).
Due to these accidents, 322 males and 63 females were killed totaling 385.
Most car accidents occurred in Hlaing Thar Yar east and west, Yangon-Pathein highway, Yangon-Nyaungdone highway, No-5 highway and Anawrahta Road according to sources.
The second most car accidents occurred at No-3 highway in Mingalardon Township and Pyae Road, Insein Township, south Dagon Township and Thingyangun Township.
Most of the accidents occurred at night and those involved in accidents were from 20 to 40 years of age. The accidents happened because of careless driving, and high speed, passing red light, and carelessness of the pedestrians according to an official from the No-2 Traffic Police Force (Ygn). Leaflets were distributed at the accident prone areas and arrests were made, he added.
