3 village administrators kidnapped, 1 administrative body member killed in Bago Region

Three village administrators have been abducted and one village administrative body member killed in Bago Region, the Tatmadaw (military) True News Information Team reported on June 23.

Village administrators Than Nwe Aung, Aung Lwin Than and Kyaw Myint in Nyaunglaybin Township were kidnapped by five men carrying homemade guns while they were going in a motorboat from Inkatpaleik Village to Thaunggyi Village at about 4.30 pm on June 21. After their abduction, security forces started investigating and searching.  

Acting on a tip-off, security forces searched the house of Shwe Lin in Htopo Village, Thaunggyi Village-tract, on June 22 and found 20 homemade guns, 13 homemade bombs and other equipment used in terrorist attacks, but no one was found inside. Further search near the house also led to the discovery of the body of Than Nwe Aung, a member of Pyidawko Village administrative body, who was found dead with stab wounds in the head, neck and stomach in Atwi creek about 100 feet south of the house. The body was sent to Madauk station hospital.

Security forces are in hot pursuit of the assailants over brutal killing of Than Nwe Aung, the information team reported.
