A crash involving two passenger buses in Yangon-Mandalay highway killed two people and injured 5 on the morning of October 14.
The crash occurred when Shwe Taung Yoe passenger bus (purple colour) stopped at the roadside near 230 mile post and checked for mechanical failure when another Shwe Taung Yoe passenger bus (white/green colour) bumped the car from behind. The second vehicle was carrying 21 passengers (17 makes and 4 females).
“The first vehicle was carrying cargo and checking for its mechanical failure. The second vehicle crashed the first from behind and a vehicle helper was died on the spot. Another man who got serious injury was admitted to hospital and he was later died at the hospital. The dead and the injured were sent to 1000-Bed hospital in Nay Pyi Taw,” said an officer from Fire Brigade Department in Pandin highway.
Myo Min OO (31 years old) from Aye Tharyar Myo Oo ward, Taunggyi and Maung Lone (38 years) from Linlay village, Taunggyi were killed by the crash.
Action has been taken to driver Nyi Nyi from the second passenger bus for reckless driving and causing fatality.
