A 15-member Bill Committee has been established in the Lower House, with Dr. Nanda Kyaw Swa appointed as chair and U Thein Tun Oo as secretary.
The committee was approved on March 24 during the third day of the first regular session of the Third Pyithu Hluttaw. Speaker U Khin Yi confirmed that its structure, responsibilities, authority, and term had already been submitted and were formally endorsed by parliament.
The committee includes representatives from multiple constituencies, along with two military appointees.
Its main role is to review draft laws to ensure they align with the Constitution, existing laws, and national policies; protect public and state interests; safeguard security and sovereignty; avoid conflicts between government bodies; and ensure consistency with international agreements.
