14 suspects detained for AA-plotted mine attacks in Rakhine

A total of 14 suspects have been detained for their involvement in the remote mine attacks on Tatmadaw’s convoy in MraukU Township in Rakhine State, according to a statement by Tatmadaw on 3 March. 

The Arakan Army  (AA) carried out remote mine attacks on the Tatmadaw’s convoy heading for MrarukU, from three places at about 1500 meters, west of Myaungbwe village, on the morning and evening of 29 February. Security forces fought back against the AA as the AA started attacking the covey with small and heavy weapons. 

The attacks injured some military officers and other ranks and damaged two vehicles. The Tatmadaw seized the bodies of two AA members and arrested 14 men including Tun Tun Win near the incident. 

According to the preliminary interrogation, some of the detainees reported the activities of Tatmadaw military columns and vehicles along Minbya-MraukU-Kyauktaw road, to the AA. They are also involved in mine attacks and ambushes on Tatmadaw’s convey and military columns, according to the statement. 

Tatmadaw will transfer them to MraukU Myoma Police Station for further investigation and legal action.
