SITTWE----A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by three men, including one from an INGO, at the Hngechaung relief camp in Pauktaw Township, Rakhine State.

A victim lived in the Hngechaung relief camp with her grandmother because her mother died 9 years ago.

On November 26th, a man took a victim from a camp as she stole his money and then he beat and raped her.

“We already filed a lawsuit against the rape case at the Pauktaw police station on December 2nd. Moreover, the victim received medical treatment in Pauktaw. Currently, there is no worry,” said an uncle of a victim.

“The rape case took place on November 26th. It is delayed because the aunty of a victim negotiated with the culprits. We heard that the culprits were running away. So, we didn’t arrest them. The victim told that there were three men who committed the rape case. One is a staff from the INGO. We are going to leave for the relief camp and then we will investigate the neighbours,” said a police officer from Pauktaw Police station.

“A leader from a mosque took the victim on November 26th. So, I informed the authorities on November 30th. On the following day, a girl was sent to her house but she was injured. Later, a doctor from MSF gave medical treatment to the victim. As the family members of the victim didn’t agree, I accompanied the security members and sent them to the Pauktaw police station on December 2nd,” said Soe Naing, in-charge of relief camp.
